YOUTH PERFORMANCE MAKING LAB

Goods Shed - Castlemaine State Festival

Working into CSF’s Summer School, we held five workshops exploring interviewing, public space, and the experience of youth, culminating in a public presentation of work.

Ideas explored were mediated through technology, the use of it, young people's experiences with it and also their rejection of it. Examining how stories and ideas of those around you can be mediated by new and emerging technologies.

Participants were assisted through storytelling, game playing, collaborative creative tasks, and individual reflective tasks, the young people involved developed their skills in creative self-expression, language improvisation and forge meaningful friendships with other like-minded individuals that are based on collaborative decision making.

The showing represented just a fragment of the worlk we had explored, and engaged audiences in an immersive long-form experimentation of movement, text and personal stories as told by our young ensemble.
